The contract on the supply and installation of electricity battery systems for the secure energy supply of Latvia has been signed

The Latvian transmission system operator JSC "Augstsprieguma tīkls" (AST) signed a contract for the supply and installation of the battery energy storage system (BESS - Battery Energy Storage System) in substations in Tume and Rēzekne with the German company Rolls-Royce Solutions GmbH, whose offer to implement the project for EUR 77.07 million was the most economically advantageous in the competition of three suppliers. The implementation of the contract will be started immediately, the equipment supplier will cooperate with Germany's "LEC Construction International GmbH" and Latvia's SIA "Enersense".

The supply and installation of the battery systems in with a total capacity of 60 MW and a storage capacity of 120 MWh Rezekne will be 100% financed by the European Union under the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RePowerEU), while the 20 MW/40 MWh BESS in Tume and the substation expansion works in Tume and Rēzekne will be 75% co-financed by the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF).
