Baltic Regional Coordination Centre to start working in July

According to the Regulation 2019/943 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 5 June 2019 on the internal market for electricity, all Baltic system operation region transmission system operators (TSOs) shall collaboratively establish Regional Coordination Centre (RCC) by 1 July 2022. Baltic system operation region consists of the Latvian TSO JSC "Augstsprieguma tīkls" (AST), Lithuanian TSO LITGRID AB and Estonian TSO Elering AS. RCC will function as a centralised organization for the Baltic TSOs ensuring coordinated approach to region's capacity calculation methodologies, supervision, strategic planning and development of new infrastructure.

All three Baltic TSOs are currently working on the necessary prerequisites, according to their national requirements, to establish and make operational the Baltic RCC by July 2022. In order to move forward AST requires an official approval from the Latvia's Cabinet of Ministers.
