On  January 21, 2021, JSC "Augstsprieguma tīkls" together with the other Baltic transmission system operators (TSOs) prepared and published the Baltic Load-Frequency control block (LFC block) concept, which described plans for establishing and implementation of methodologies and processes necessary for operation of Baltic LFC block.

In order to maintain safe and effective operation within the Baltic LFC block, frequency restoration reserves (FRR) will be dimensioned and ensured in accordance with the principles provided in the Baltic LFC block concept, taking into account historic imbalances, outage rates of HVDC and large power plants. The longterm forecast of FRR capacity volumes for the Baltic LFC block for the period of 2024-2031 has been prepared by JSC "Augstsprieguma tīkls" together with the other Baltic TSOs and is available using the link below. The forecasted capacity of FRR reflects reserve requirements for Baltic LFC block which is expected to be ensured commonly by Baltic TSOs.
