AS Augstsprieguma tīkls AS (AST) has been ranked as the third most valuable company among the state capital companies in the initiative ‘TOP101 of the Latvia's most valuable enterprises’ and ranks 7th among all Latvian companies included in the listing, demonstrating a growth of 14 positions compared to last year. The annual assessment has been carried out by Prudentia and Nasdaq Riga since 2005.

The growth can be explained by the company's transaction of 21 July 2020 for the acquisition of 34.10% of the shares of Conexus Baltic Grid AS, thus increasing the control of the company to 68.46% and ensuring full state control over the gas transmission system in Latvia. The performance of AST was also affected by the fact that last year, AST took over the assets of the electricity transmission system.

AST also received an excellent rating in corporate governance, ranking second among all top companies. This has been facilitated by the implementation of a corporate governance policy setting out uniform principles for the Corporate Governance of AST to promote ethical, accountable, and transparent practices of corporate governance.

The aim of the initiative ‘TOP101 of the Latvia's most valuable enterprises’ is to strengthen the understanding of the value of companies as an important reference point for further development by explaining the motivation to purchase, sell, merge and the role of corporate governance in improving the competitiveness of companies in Latvia and the Baltics.
