From February 2023, the position of president of the Latvian National Committee of the World Energy Council will be held by Olga Bogdanova

The World Energy Council is an international organization that connects the National Committees of almost 100 countries and more than 3,000 energy-related organizations in the world. It was established in 1923 with the mission of promoting sustainable energy availability for the benefit of the entire society and serves as a global forum for the management of smart energy processes and cooperation between the parties involved. Latvia has been a member of the World Energy Council (WEC) since 1934 (with a break in the period 1940-1992).

At the meeting of the Latvian National Committee held on January 6, 2023, Olga Bogdanova was confirmed as the president of the committee.

"The Latvian National Committee of the World Energy Council is a world-class competence center in Latvia, which provides support to policymakers and the wider society in our challenging and common path to climate neutrality," says Gatis Junghāns, vice president of WEC LNC and member of the board of JSC "Augstsprieguma tīkls".

Olga Bogdanova will start her work as the president of WEC LNC on February 1, 2023. In 2012, Olga Bogdanova obtained a doctorate degree in economics (Dr. oec.), is a member of the Research Committee and a graduate of the FEL-100 program, an expert of the World Energy Council, the chairperson of the Future Energy Leaders in Latvia program, an associate professor of the Faculty of Business Management and Economics of the University of Latvia, Deputy chairwoman of the Latvian transmission system operator  JSC "Augstsprieguma tīkls" board. Author of more than 35 scientific articles and co-author of 3 monographs.

The members of the Latvian National Committee of the World Energy Council are JSC "Latvenergo", JSC "Augstsprieguma tīkls", JSC "Conexus Baltic Grid", Riga Technical University , JSC "Gaso", AS "Latvijas Gāze", JSC "Rīgas Siltums", association „Latvijas Siltuma, gāzes un ūdens tehnoloģijas inženieru savienība”, association "Latvijas Elektroenerģētiķu un Energobūvnieku asociācija", Latvian Academy of Sciences.
