Services of Transmission System

Augstsprieguma tīkls AS, which started its operations on 1 September 2005 as a legal successor of rights and obligations of the subsidiary Augstsprieguma tīkls AS of the Latvenergo AS, is the Transmission System Operator (TSO), aim of the activity of which is to transmit the electricity through high voltage networks (110 kV and higher) in the entire territory of Latvia, as well as to ensure operation of 330 kV and 110 kV electricity transmission lines, substations, distribution points and other equipment pursuant to the license No. E12001 issued by the Public Utilities Commission.

Main tasks of the Augstsprieguma tīkls AS in accordance with the “Energy Law”, the “Electricity Market Law” and the “Grid Code” are to ensure operation, exploitation, development of a unified transmission system, as well as its compatibility with other energy supply systems; to provide the electricity to distribution system operators in the required amount and quality in compliance with the standard requirements; to ensure safety of the transmission system taking into account the requirements regarding environmental protection; as well as to set undiscriminating terms and conditions regarding use of the transmission system for all users of the said system.
